Florence Miller -- Rochester

Samaritan Bethany in Rochester. She was born on Nov. 15, 1916, on a farm just north of Rochester. Her parents were Herman Peter and Minnie Martha (Growt) Reiter. She attended school nearby at District 52 Hadley Valley School and Rochester High School.On Sept. 5, 1936, Florence married Harry G. Miller from Hebron, Wis., and they were married 63 years. She was a mother and housewife and also worked 17 years for Dayton's Department Store in Rochester.In her youth, Florence enjoyed playing softball. At age 40, she began bowling and on Nov. 7, 2010, she was inducted into the S.E. Minnesota Bowling Association Hall of Fame. She loved to travel which included most of the USA, Canada, Alaska, Mexico, Caribbean, Europe and twice to the Hawaiian Islands. She also loved to sew and spent many hours with her needle and thread watching the Minnesota Twins.Florence is survived by sons, Harley Miller of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Dale Miller (Sue) of Lakewood, Colo.; grandchildren, Julie Butel and Teri Rachels (Rich), Dean Miller (Tracy), Jenny Sossamon (Gary) and Tori Miller; great-grandchildren, Joseph Butel, Jessica Butel, Cody Rachels, Tia Broadway (Adam) and Aleya India Jones; and great-great-grandchildren, Skyler Jane Broadway and Barrett and Beckett Butel.Florence was preceded in death by her husband; her grandson, Steven Miller; and her sister, Margaret Schoonover, who is survived by children, Darlene Reese, Alice Laudon, Lois Law, Vicki Schoonover and Zan Schoonover.Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. SUSAN SCOTT HALLAWELL RABY

She was born March 21, 1950 in Louisville, KY to the late Dr. Robert G. Hallawell and the late Mary Goodpaster Hallawell.She is survived by her three children and their spouses; Taylor Blankenship and husband, Chris, Scott Raby and wife, Olivia, and Patrick Raby and wife, Claire. She is also survived by her beloved granddaughter, Allie Morgan Blankenship whom she loved dearly with all her heart.Other survivors include her sister, Morgan Hallawell Wells, sister-in-law Pat Hallawell, several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Hallawell. Susan was a dedicated employee of the Allen County Board of Education and the Sumner County Board of Education where she taught Art Education for a combined 37 years. She graduated with honors from Western Kentucky University and began her career in Allen County in 1972. She was an avid lover of all things Art.The family requests memorials be made to the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky and Art Matters of Bowling Green, KY.Funeral services will be conducted Monday, September 4, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Harwood & Strode Funeral Home in Scottsville, KY. Cremation was chosen and a private family graveside service will be at a later date in Owingsville, KY.Visitation will be 1:00 PM-9:00 PM Sunday, September, 3 2017 after 7:30 AM Monday, September 4, 2017 until time of funeral service at Harwood & Strode Funeral Home.
